AMPP South Texas Chapter
Scholarship Plan
AMPP South Texas Chapter provides scholarship grants to provide financial assistance for students attending accredited universities and colleges with studies in the field of engineering and science. Consideration may be given, at the Board’s discretion, for applicants enrolled in a full-time career program, such as Nursing, Physical Therapy, Medical Doctorate, etc.
Who is Eligible?
- The student must be referred by a member of AMPP South Texas Chapter that is in good standing.
- The student must be accepted to an accredited college/university and working toward a degree in Engineering or Sciences.
- The scholarship recipient must maintain full-time status at an accredited college/university.
- The student must have and maintain a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
How to Apply
Applicants must submit all the following material postmarked no later than June 19, 2024.
- A completed application signed by the student and a parent/guardian if the student is under the age of 18.
- An official transcript from the student’s high school or college/university.
- An official letter of acceptance from the designated college/university.
Recipient Selection Process
- Scholarship recipients will be selected by an independent committee of non-AMPP members appointed from time to time by the AMPP South Texas Chapter Board of Directors.
- The selection committee members may not be affiliated with scholarship candidates.
- All applicants’ names are kept confidential from the selection committee members.
- Scholarship recipients are chosen based on performance in several categories including grade point average, essay quality, work experience, honors received, volunteer and extracurricular activities.
- The number and amount of scholarships to be distributed will vary each year depending on the number of qualified applications and available scholarship funds. To learn what the current year designated scholarship amounts are, contact any AMPP South Texas Chapter officer.
- Scholarships are made to assist with the cost of tuition, books, and lab fees only.
- The grant will be paid directly to the college/university designated on your scholarship application.
- The scholarship recipients will be notified no later than September 21, 2024.
Scholarship Benefit
Taxability
At the present time, scholarships under this plan are not taxable. If there is a change, recipients will be notified.
